PIANO ADVERTISING PLAN BOOK

THE CLASSIFIED ADS OF YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER
For over a hundred years one of the best sources selling a piano was the private classified ad. The classified ads are also used by local piano dealers, teachers, tuners and technicians. There are many advantages of local piano ads over other methods of advertising a used piano for sale. First of all you know where the piano is, where it has been and you can see it, hear it and touch it in its present environment. You know that it hasn't been moved around so you know that it is properly seasoned for your local atmospheric conditions. The local weekly throwaway newspapers such as the Thrifty Nickel or Penny Saver are great examples of inexpensive classified ads that work well with used pianos.
You want to know how old you piano is, whether it is a good piano or not, how much it piano is really worth. Some of this is related to the outdoor climate and some of it is related to the indoor environment, which is affected by such conditions as air conditioning and heating systems. Example: A piano located in Phoenix or Las Vegas, may not be suitable for use in Houston or Miami. The instrument is in a very dry area and if moved to a wet or humid area you will have many problems with sticking keys and dull sounding hammers from moisture.
If you advertise your piano on the WWW internet there are plenty of things preventing you from selling it. You have a Baldwin, Kawai or Yamaha console in Chicago. You sell your piano for a great price to someone who lives in New York. In addition to the cost of the piano, there is the cost of freight to consider, and this is never inexpensive. The cost of shipping that piano is $800. Add that to the price of the piano and you are not very competitive, as a matter of fact your piano is over priced. The local internet is a great place to buy or sell a piano if it is to a local buyer.
The Classified ad has worked for a hundred years, but a classified ad today will cost $40.00, $50.00 or more for three or four days. But you can buy a one or two line ad in your local newspaper classified section and list your web page as the location for your piano advertising, or you can advertise plenty of Free advertising.

The name of a older piano can ascertain the character and reliability of any instrument.
In the past the trademark on its fallboard was your assurance of its distinction and musicianship. Its enduring qualities of tone and stability have been further guaranteed by the company that produced it. In this day of advertising and enterprise the names of most great pianos are familiar to the public. But there are a few of the older instruments whose originators succeeded in making their genius known. But on leaving the scene, their successors, permitted the priceless fame of those pianos to decline. Such pianos are of course given their deserved place in this book and, even if the name may seem strange, the commendation herein accorded may be accepted as reliable.
